Did You Know?

  • Need to update your mailing address for property tax purposes? If the property is located in Travis County, contact the Travis Central Appraisal District. The Tax Office mails out notices based on the Appraisal Districts tax roll information. We can only make short term/temporary changes to any mailing address information. Therefore, it is most efficient to make changes directly with TCAD. You can download a "Name or Address Correction Form" directly from them here.
  • Over 65 and disabled taxpayers may choose a tax deferral and pay taxes with a lower rate of interest. See the application for details.
  • Do you or your group wish to become Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrars? Individuals or groups interested in becoming deputy registrars may visit the tax office at 5501 Airport Boulevard, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday in order to become deputized. Deputizing takes about 20 minutes. Questions? Call (512) 854-9473. Visit this page for more details.
  • Foreclosed properties that do not sell on the courthouse steps become part of Travis County's Resale Inventory. See Travis County's Foreclosed Property Resale Listing. Buy foreclosed properties 24/7. See this page to begin researching resale properties and the proper procedures for bidding on them.
  • The next Tax Foreclosure Sale is scheduled for Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 10:00 am on the west side of the Travis County Courthouse. Bidders statement requirements are in effect which require all bidders to secure a statement showing they owe no delinquent taxes. The statement must be received in the office of the tax assessor-collector no later than five business days before the sale you wish to participate in. Visit our foreclosures page for full details and instructioins on how to participate.
  • 2011 property tax bills will be mailed in October and early November 2011. If you escrow for taxes through your lender, the bill will automatically go to the mortgage company or bank in mid-November. Most mortgage companies will post payment to our office on or near the last day of each calendar year. If you have changed lenders in the last 12 months, the email address for submitting these changes is tax_office@co.travis.tx.us or by telephone: (512) 854-9473. If you pay your own taxes and have changed mailing address, contact Travis Central Appraisal District to make sure the mailing address change is recorded in the official records. Our office can provide a copy of your bill via email, fax or regular mail as soon as they are available or you can download a copy of the statement on our website 24 hours a day.
  • View Tax Facts 2011 on Time Warner Cable Channel 17 featuring important events, deadlines and updates. See local listings under "Travis County TV Presents" for schedule.
